About me

Hi, I’m Anne Penez, the founder of The French Explorer School.
After 25 years teaching and traveling around the world, I am now based in the beautiful region of Vendée, in France, where I teach french online to children from 5 to 17 years old.

About me, Miss Anne

Bonjour ! I’m Anne Penez, or “Miss Anne” as my students like to call me. I am a certified teacher with 25 years of experience.

In my life, I have always wanted my teaching career to be compatible with my passion of traveling. So, after teaching for 8 years in France, I moved to Tunisia with my two daughters. They were, then, aged 2 and 4. I worked in an international school with a multilingual curriculum. This was the beginning of our family’s multilingual adventure. We later lived in South Korea and China.

Speaking several languages has always given me the incredible feeling that I could conquer the world. It has allowed me not only to communicate with people from different backgrounds but also to gain a deeper understanding of the cultures and societies we live in. Learning multiple languages has made me more curious, empathetic, and open-minded, and it has shown me that language is not just a tool for communication but a bridge to understanding the world in a richer way. That is exactly why I am now fully committed to passing on this experience and helping children discover the joy of learning the French language, as well as immersing them in the vibrant French culture.

About The French Explorer School

In 2022 my family and I left China to return to my hometown in Vendée, in France. In spite of the distance, the families who shared my values asked me to continue teaching their children online, sharing knowledge and nurturing their curiosity every day. That’s how The French Explorer School came to life. A serious car accident in 2024 made me realize how short life is, and I decided to fully commit to this lifelong dream with passion and dedication.

My journey, both as a mother and as an educator, has been deeply shaped by the belief that learning languages opens doors to extraordinary encounters, rich and diverse cultures, and unique international opportunities that can truly change lives. After having had life-changing experiences abroad myself, I now feel it is my responsibility and my joy to give children the chance to embark on their own multilingual journey with The French Explorer School. Whether it is by providing them with solid academic knowledge through my Online French classes or offering them a fully immersive experience in France through the French Family Camp, I strive to make each child’s learning experience meaningful, inspiring, and truly unforgettable for many, many years to come.
