What this blog post is about :

Just a few months ago, it was just an idea that became a project. Now I'm happy to present this project to you, which has become a reality. How was The French Explorer School born ? Here's a quick retrospective to let you know more about the birth of this project. It's also a great occasion to thank all those who have supported me in the making of The French Explorer School. My special thanks go to the parents of my students without whom none of this would have happened. Welcome to The French Explorer School !

The French Explorer School was born thanks to two things.

First, thanks to the support of non-French-speaking parents who trusted me to guide their children in learning French.

Then, a car accident forced me to stay home for several months. I had time, parents, students, and a strong motivation—four ingredients that made this project a reality.

Why learn french with The French Explorer School ?

One day I asked my students the question : “Why do you want to learn French?”.

Several children said, “French is a beautiful language.” Others said, “It’s a popular language,” meaning that French is attracting more and more people. And still others, “It was my mom who wanted it because she’s already been to France.”

The profiles, motivations, projects, and desires are of course different, but everyone shares the same goal: to be bilingual or multilingual in French.

The choice you make as parents for your children in French is a smart and thoughtful choice for their future (I expand on this topic in another blog post).

I am multilingual myself, and I offer to guide your child through this incredible exploration of French as a foreign language. I assure you that I will dedicate all my expertise, kindness, motivation, and attention to this mission so that your little explorer becomes a fluent French speaker.

Who are these explorers?

They are, above all, children and teenagers who love French. It’s difficult to progress in any learning experience if you don’t enjoy it. This is a concept close to my heart because both learners and teachers must enjoy it.

I support them in their language explorations: speaking, discovering vocabulary, reading books, discovering games, understanding grammar, writing beautiful and fun texts. French is full of treasures !

Adventure can be experienced alone, it’s called Solo Explorer

The School of Explorers also offers 100% immersive learning.

The French Family Camp offers the unique opportunity to live with a French family—my own—during the holidays. I welcome explorers of all ages to share our daily lives and experience French life.
Total immersion in French is the best way to progress quickly and effectively because all activities are in French: meals, cooking, field trips, games, classes, art activities… French culture isn’t something you learn; it’s something you experience with us.

I open the doors of my home, and we live as a family for one or more weeks.

About the author

My name is Anne Penez and I am the founder of The French Explorer School.
For 25+ years, I have taught in primary school in France, in Tunisia, in China and in South Korea. My experience across the globe has opened my eyes to the importance of multilingualism. So now, I want to pass this way of thinking to kids by teaching them french.
At The French Explorer School, kids don't only learn french the academic way. I also make sure that they have fun, and ultimately, have an immersive experience of France with the French Family Camp.
