Why rituals for children are important when learning French online

Teacher and students performing an end-of-class ritual in online French class with mood emojis.

Rituals play a key role in children’s online French learning. They not just create a structure, they boost memory and help kids feel secure and confident. From greeting songs, the ‘What’s up today?’ to the emoji of the day, rituals make lessons predictable yet fun, ensuring children stay motivated and progress with joy.
The “What’s up today?” ritual allows children to start French class gently. Everyone has a speaking time so that their brains can go into “learning” mode. Mine as well!

Anne Penez, founder of The French Explorer School, french teacher for kids

Just a few months ago, it was just an idea that became a project. Now I’m happy to present this project to you, which has become a reality. How was The French Explorer School born ? Here’s a quick retrospective to let you know more about the birth of this project. It’s also a great occasion to thank all those who have supported me in the making of The French Explorer School. My special thanks go to the parents of my students without whom none of this would have happened. Welcome to The French Explorer School !
